Amarins Lyklema

ABOUT
A Unique Artistic Voice

Amarins Lyklema (b. 1988) is a contemporary realist painter whose work bridges the tradition of the Dutch Golden Age with a distinctly modern sensibility. Entirely self-taught, she has developed a refined technique in acrylics that rivals the depth and luminosity of oil painting.

Her compositions often center around animals and symbolic still lifes-dramatic, contemplative scenes that explore the tension between beauty and decay, fragility and power.

Drawing inspiration from 17th-century masters such as Adriaen van Utrecht, Lyklema approaches painting with the same devotion to light, composition, and atmosphere. Yet her work speaks unmistakably to the present: richly detailed, emotionally charged, and imbued with narrative depth.

“A painting never begins on the canvas,” she says. “It starts as a feeling or story that lingers until it demands to be painted. I aim for a sense of stillness and intensity—where every detail has meaning, and the light itself tells part of the story.”

Lyklema’s works have garnered international attention, reaching hundreds of thousands of viewers online and attracting collectors from across Europe and the rest of the world.

Philosophy of Beauty

I believe beauty is not decoration — it’s a form of truth.
My work invites the viewer to slow down, to look longer, and to find meaning in stillness.

The Craft

Acrylic, mastered like oil.
Lyklema’s paintings are created in many transparent layers of acrylic — a medium that demands precision and speed. When finished with professional varnish, it achieves the same depth and richness as oil, with its own clarity and luminosity.

Collected Worldwide

From Amsterdam to Los Angeles, Lyklema’s works are part of private collections across Europe and the United States.
