“As an artist, you’re always working on the next design. I love painting flowers and had been wanting to make one for a while. Then I saw these tulips, roots and all. Why in a vase? How beautiful that tangle of roots and all those colors. So I left it alone, and so it happened: a flower painting without a vase.”
