The Ravens Hour is a modern interpretation of the Vanitas tradition — a genre that flourished in the 17th century and reflected on the fleeting nature of life, beauty, and material possessions.

In this painting, the raven becomes both observer and symbol: a messenger between the living and the transient. Around it, objects such as a skull, an antique pocket watch, extinguished candle, and withered flowers echo the passing of time. Yet there’s warmth in the composition — a balance of light and shadow that gives the scene a quiet sense of dignity and mystery.

Executed in multiple thin layers of acrylic paint, the work combines classical depth with contemporary precision.

It’s a painting about stillness, mortality, and the strange beauty that exists between both.
