“These antlers have been hanging above our mantelpiece for years. Suddenly, I thought it would be fantastic to paint them and create a beautiful composition. The skull and antlers are a captivating image in themselves, but I still wanted to give it my own twist. The combination of insects and the skull creates an interesting juxtaposition. The skull represents death, awe, and is perhaps even a bit macabre, but the insects add life, joy, and humor.”
